A very forward and innovative blog Pucc...
I especially like the idea of .fm being replaced by .tv and would open up a whole new market as the explosion of video streaming sites like youtube and google vids seems to be all the craze at the moment....however read this article this morning and there could be an epidemic on its way as far as strains on ISP's go...and introducing a charge for the extra strain on the resource and infrastructure...(I hope not!!!)

Keep it REAL!!!!

The fact that Last.fm is a Web2.0 site makes it quite enticing for me. Other social networking sites have failed on this aspect by freely letting users to customize to their heart's content.

I am loving last.fm, and hating on MySpace as well! I've considered leaving MySpace for the simple fact that it's so error-ridden that my blood pressure goes up every time I try to do something on there, not to mention the point you made about the lack of RSS for the blog. I can import my blog from WordPress into Facebook, but not MySpace. That's sad, in my opinion. Of course, Facebook offers Last.fm support as well and MySpace doesn't.

I agree with some of your points ... I think you do also have to address the change in management of myspace to other hands being one of the reasons. On the one hand, users now have access to more tech things for their websites on the other hand, they've lost their individuality. Is that the mechanism or the people? I appreciate the use of myspace for working bands? ... how do you get to a fan base when you are trying tour from city to city and need to get folks out?

This is a practical concern of which some part of the solution is using technology.

I however love your words - passion, emotive ... : )

There are good musicians on myspace:

Ruthie Foster
Ari Hest
Palm Wine Boys

And, at the same time, there are some musicians who are simply a product of the myspace phenomena. And now all of us get to experience what a club owner or a radio station may experience in weeding through the thousands of CDs they get each week!! Would this closeness - potential purchaser to musician improve the music we get? I wonder.
